a nickel bag of funk: sunday, SEPTEMBER 3 @ 7:30 pm – 10:30pm

For more information see A Nickel Bag of Funk

Based out of Savannah, GA this hard working band is funk infused with mixes of R&B, Hip Hop, Rock and Soul. It is truly an eclectic musical experience that gets the crowd going and makes the audience demand more. What is consistent about this band throughout the years is its musicianship. It does not matter if it is a three piece or ten piece setup this band always out performs.

Lead vocalists and creator, Leslie Adele is a powerhouse. She presents powerful vocals and emotional performances, every word is emphasized and every note is hit. What is wonderful about this lead singer is that it does not matter if it is a cover song or one of her original tracks; you are going to get the best out of Leslie no matter what! With Adele at the helm, this funk outfit is poised for national attention.

The conception of Leslie Adele and A Nickel Bag of Funk happened on a wing and a dare on July 4th, 2005. Leslie who was a waitress at the time at the North Beach Grill on Tybee Island, GA was dared to go on stage and sing. Never being one to back down Leslie jumped up and belted out “Superstitious” by Stevie Wonder, she finished that night with double tips and motivation to start a band.

The immediate future for A Nickel Bag of Funk and Leslie is to keep touring and performing, having performed over 300 performances in the past year. This is truly the busiest little band in the South East. With the release of their first full length album Melodic Schizophrenic, they have a solid collection of original music that reflects the band’s musical voice as well as array of talent. What started out as the shear unwillingness of Adele to pick a genre to stay in, has turned into the audible ethos of these Savannah natives. Awe inspiring and aggressive drum grooves combined with Adele’s raw powerhouse vocals and LaBelle-esque stage presence has set the much anticipated scene for this first offering of original material.

danielle hicks and the resistance: monday, SEPTEMBER 4 @ 2:00 pm – 3:30pm

For more information see Danielle Hicks

Danielle Hicks is a blues rock singer and songwriter based out of Savannah, Georgia.

Raised in the small town of Tifton, Georgia, Danielle Hicks began performing at age 7; singing with her father’s southern rock band and sitting in with local musicians decades older than her.

After high school, Hicks made the leap from small town to big city, relocating to New York City to attend  The American Musical and Dramatic Academy and continue her career as a performer.  It was during these years that Danielle developed her songwriting and singing style into a unique combination of influences. While she had been performing blues standards and classic rock for years, the New York-influence lead her into the more modern R&B and new-soul sounds of Sade as well as the sultry influence of artists like Nina Simone, Etta James, Stevie Nicks, and Bonnie Raitt.

After 10 years working as a singer, actress and studio musician, Hicks moved to Savannah, Georgia to start her own quartet and began performing regularly throughout the Southeast region, honing her style while continually writing and arranging new music. Since moving back to Georgia she has become one of the most sought out and celebrated singer-songwriters in the low-country.

She’s currently hard at work gigging around the Southeast and planning a full tour in support of her new album ‘Honey’. She’s joined by the amazingly talented guitarist Ben Keiser and some of Savannah’s finest musicians (Ryan Kelly, Ira Miller, Matt Fallin) –The Resistance.

the isaac smith band: monday, SEPTEMBER 4 @ 4:00 pm – 5:30pm

For more information see Isaac Smith

Born and raised in Atlanta, GA of his father’s church, there is no denying his southern influence. Filling in from a young age on any instrument that was needed in that lively pentecostal church, he quickly began molding his musical roots in black gospel and hymns. It was clear through his youth, he was being groomed to be a musical figure in the church world but like many of us, he realized there was more to life and more to faith than “church”.

After relocating to Savannah, GA, his rediscovery of his faith and his music began. He never thought as himself as a writer but in 2014, he wrote his first EP titled ‘Magnolia Bloom”. Writing became something as equal to playing instruments for people and definitely more fulfilling than singing and playing covers at the local bars.

2017 is a promising year for Isaac and his band. Their new record titled “Young or Old” is set to release in September. In the last few years, they’ve grown as a band and evolved their sound into a unique blend of rock, folk, and alt country pop while keeping a soulful approach.
